The Valley of Flowers is usually open from June first week to October second week every year. The best time to witness the valley in full bloom is from mid-July to mid-August.
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is well-connected to major Indian cities. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Govindghat (300 Km approx.), the starting point for the trek to the valley. The nearest railway station is Yog Nagri Rishikesh which is also 270 Km approx. from Govindghat.
Yes, a permit is required to enter the national park. You can obtain it from the Forest Department Office in Joshimath or at the entry gate in Govindghat. It’s advisable to carry an ID proof and passport-sized photographs for the permit. There is an entry fee for the Valley, INR 150 for Indian Nationals & INR 600 for foreigners.
