Chamunda Mata Temple

Chamunda Mata Temple is situated at the end of Mehrangarh Fort among the oldest and most revered temples in Jodhpur. The Goddess is considered to be the principal deity of Jodhpur’s inhabitants and is regarded as the royal family’s ‘Isht Devi’ or foremost goddess. This holy temple attracts many devotees and worshippers, particularly during Dussehra and Navratri festivals, and is considered a place of pilgrimage among many Hindus. Myth says the goddess is highly respected among the locals as well as the foreign devotees, as she protected Jodhpur by taking the form of an eagle and warning the villagers in the time of need.
