Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid of Srinagar Situated within the heart of the old city of Srinagar, this huge mosque is visited by thousands of individuals who congregate here for the Friday prayers. the most important mosque in Kashmir, it’s built around a courtyard with 370 wooden pillars to support it. Originally built by Sultan Sikandar in 1400, and enlarged by his son, Zain-ul- Abidin, it’s a typical example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The mosque of today was repaired during the reign of Maharaja Pratap Singh. one of main features of the Jama masjid mosque is the four minars and eight wooden columns as support.
