Namgyal Monastery

Namgyal Monastery in McLeodganj is one of the most popular tourist spots in Dharamshala to visit as a major learning centre. The famous monastery, with almost 200 monks, is the largest Tibetan temple outside of Tibet’s geographical boundary. This monastery is looking lively and attracting crowd all year round. It houses an enormous Sakyamuni Buddha shrine. The Stupa Namgyalma was built in memory of the Tibetan soldiers who fought for Tibet’s independence. The wheels of prayer, the furniture, the architecture in Tibetan style and the overall color scheme are visually pleasing and hypnotic.
