St John in the Wilderness Church

St. John Church, also known as St. John In The Forest, is an Anglican church situated on the way to McLeod Ganj at Forsyth Ganj amongst beautiful deodar trees. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist and was built in 1852. The Church is a landmark monument and one of the region’s oldest churches. It is designed in Neo-Gothic architectural style and features Belgian stained-glass windows donated by Lord Elgin’s wife Lady Elgin. The church is Lord Elgin’s final resting place which was India’s former viceroy.
