Gulabi Kantha is very famous trek in Uttrakhand. It is an altitude of 12000 ft height above the sea level. This is green field which on the way to well-known clear water lake trek known as Dodital. Dodital is also known as the birth place of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god in Hindu mythology. From the Himalayan mountain range one can see 360 degree view from Gulabi Kantha. In this region you can view the mountain tange such as Kalindi sirkala, Bandarpoonch peak, Shivalik mountains and Chaukhamba peaks. One can see the panoramic view of sunrise and sunset from this peak. A wide variety of flora and fauna is also found here.

Gulabi Kantha is not very famous in trekking communities in India in spite of lying enroute Dodital trek, however from last couple of year people have started to go on this beautiful trek. Recently few media channels also discovered the place with the help of local guides and villagers and made a news piece on the same. The place offers wide adventure related opportunities all year round. A team of ITBP, Matli ( Indo Tibetan border police force) team came on a visit to explore the possibility to develop it for winter games such as skiing and other games.

Itinerary

Day 1Dehradun – Hanuman Chatti

On arrival at Dehradun meet our representative and drive to Hanuman Chatti. After reaching get briefed about the trek program and other logistics. Dinner along with Bonfire at night a stay in Tent.

Day 2Hanuman Chatti-Seema Thaatch (Trek 10KM)

After morning breakfast pack your bags (8:00 am) and start trek to Seema Thaatch, a 10 km trek. Lunch will be served at Kandola (2:00 pm). Reach Seema thaatch at 4:00 pm. Check into your respective tents. Snacks with tea to be served while you are watching the beautiful sunset. Dinner with bonfire at 7:00 pm. Overnight stay at Tent.

Day 3Seema Thaatch- Gulabi Kantha-Seema Thaatch (Trek 10KM)

Witness Sunrise in the morning from your camp at 5:30 am. Breakfast at 7:00 am and start moving towards Gulabi Kantha(the destination at 8:00 am), a 5 km trek. Packed lunch will be provided at Gulabi Kantha at 1:00 pm. Roam free in the vast lush green meadows and indulge in Panoramic 360-degree view of Unbelievable snow clad mountain ranges such as Bandar Poonch Peak, Kalindi Srikala, Shivalik Mountains and Chaukhamba Peaks. Move back after the tea to Seema Thaatch camp area. Dinner will be served with local wine/ Drink at 7:00 pm along with bonfire.

Day 4Seema Thaatch- Hanuman Chatti (Trek 10Km)

Move from Seema Thaatch after breakfast back to Hanuman Chatti, a 10 km trek. Lunch to be served at Kandola at 1:00 PM. Reach the base camp Hanuman Chatti at 4:00 pm. Share your experience along with group members and management team. Dinner at 7:00 pm with music and bonfire.

Day 5Seema Thaatch- Dehradun Drop

After morning breakfast drive to Dehradun. Drop at railway station or airport for onwards journey.

What is best time to go for the trek?

Months of May, June pre monsoon and September, October post monsoon are the best months, although it’s beautiful throughout the year.

What is the difficulty level of Gulabi Kantha trek?

Gulabi Kantha trek is of easy to medium difficulty level. Doing regular walks and jogging 20-25 minutes daily will ensure you are ready for this Trek.

What is the approx. temperature during the trek?

The temperature varies according to the weather/ Month of Experience, Maximum 20 degrees Celsius and Minimum Biting Cold (single digit number) can be expected.

How much do we have to trek every day approximately?

The itinerary is designed in such way that we trek approximately 7-10 km a day. The distance is covered with a relaxing pace having stops in between along with refreshments.

Who will lead and who all go with us?

The trek is accompanied by the local UbEx tour leader. Since Majority of them belong to Yamunotri region itself, so they do have vast experience of making your Experience a Memorable one.

What are the minimum size and requirements for fixed departure?

There is a minimum requirement of 5 pax. You shall be informed about other trekkers making trek on the same dates as yours. In case you want to trek with certain number of your friends kindly call us for the same.

Is the trek safe? Does the place have wild animals also?

Throughout the year the trek is frequented by tourists, adventurers along with nomads, local Villagers inhabiting nearby villages.

Is it safe for girls?

Of course yes! The people in the mountains are god -fearing and highly respective of outsiders. Since the groups are accompanied by the UbEx local staff members. Girls shall be accommodated with girls only.

Is the water safe to drink?

The water from natural resources is pure and safe to drink. The water shall be boiled. Your trek leaders and guides know well from where to fill your water bottles. If you are still not convinced you can bring your own water bottles.

Can I offload my backpack on a mule/porter? What are the charges for the same?

We recommend to carry what is needed while on the trek and leave excess stuff behind, in case you want to offload your bags we provide that option to all trekkers, the charges for the same are Rs 250/- Per Bag Per Day with a weight limit of 9 Kgs or Less.

How many trekkers will be in one tent?

Tents provided are of different accommodation capacity that is single, double, 3 to maximum 4 people. This entirely varies on the number of people as well as number of females into it.

What level of fitness is expected from the trekkers?

This trek can be done by the first time trekkers who want to familiarize themselves with easy to medium Altitude treks. It needs a basic fitness level both physically and mentally.

What is there in food menu during the trek?

Vegetarian meals are provided all three times during the trek, Vegetarian food does include some of the local cuisine items as it is easy to digest vegetarian food in high altitudes, we provide Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks and Dinner.

How to reach Hanuman chatti ?

Hanuman Chatti is located en-route Yamnotri temple. You will have to arrive to Dehradun city and from there onwards you can take the Musoorie route to reach to the Barkot Town. From Barkot, Hanuman chatti is 34 km away. UbEx Guide will be at Hanuman chatti to receive and welcome you. Approximate hours to reach from Dehradun to Hanuman chatti would be 6-7 hours.
