High in the Himalayas of Uttaranchal, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, lies a fairy-tale landscape known as the Valley of Flowers. Unknown to people for ages, this enchanted valley was frozen throughout the winter and re-emerged into its youth each year when the snow melted with the arrival of summer. Each year, hundreds of different flower species blossomed in the valley, filling it with color and changing as the months went on to take on a variety of hues. Naturally, the people had long been aware of the valley’s existence and had the impression that fairies lived there. The Brahma kamal, Blue Poppy, and Cobra Lily are just a few of the well-known blooms that may be seen in the valley. It is a highly sought-after destination for botanists, hikers, and those who like flowers. For these people, the fact that a location exists is a good enough reason to set out on a journey.

The Story Behind The Floral Valley

The discovery of the Valley of Flowers has a very intriguing backstory. While returning from Mount Kamet in 1931, British mountaineers Frank Smythe, R. Holdsworth, and Eric Shipton got lost in the area and ended up at the Valley of Flowers. They chose the name Valley of Flowers for this area because they were fascinated by its beauty.
